Help Shape The Future Of WGBH

About WGBH Planned Giving

In addition to giving cash and securities that support WGBH television, 89.7, and Classical WCRB, a growing number of supporters are choosing to make planned gifts that ensure our future.

There are many ways to give a planned gift, and many reasons for giving, whether to television, radio, or both. Some of our donors want to provide support for a particular genre of programming — science, the arts, history, or classical and news radio, for example. Others believe that WGBH should have the flexibility to develop projects in response to emerging opportunities. Planned gifts ensure WGBH’s ability to continue to create and deliver educational media that serve the American public — programs that are free and accessible to all. Explore the various ways you can help shape the future of WGBH below.

Ways to Give

  • Bequest

For many donors, the optimal way to make a planned gift to WGBH is through a bequest or other testamentary provision. Learn more.

  • Life Income Gifts

In exchange for your gift, WGBH will pay a you or another beneficiary income for life or a fixed term of years. Learn more.

  • IRA Charitable Rollover

You can transfer funds from your IRA directly to WGBH. Learn more.

  • Endowment

The WGBH endowment is a vital source of funds for our programs and operations. Gifts to the WGBH endowment can be designated for general purposes or earmarked for special projects, such as radio productions, children’s programs, public affairs, drama, arts, science, or history.

We’re grateful for gifts to our endowment in any amount. For those with the desire and means to leave a special legacy, with your gift of $100,000 or more you can:

    - Create an endowed fund named after you or in honor or memory of another.
    - Choose whether your named fund will support WGBH in general or be designated for a specific purpose, such as those listed above.

  • Donor Advised Funds

During your lifetime, you can recommend a grant from your donor-advised fund to impact the future of public media by educating and inspiring through WGBH. Learn more.

Giving Assets

You can use a life insurance policy (or a percentage of it) to reduce your taxes and create a gift for WGBH that demonstrates your commitment to fostering an active and informed citizenry. Stocks, bonds, mutual funds that have appreciated in value, retirement plans, or other tangible personal property may also be considered for outright gifts.

Great Blue Hill Society

You become a member of the Great Blue Hill Society automatically when you make a provision to WGBH in your estate plan through a gift arrangement that benefits WGBH in the future. Learn more.

Before Making Your Gift

Planned gifts should be considered carefully. We recommend that you consult an attorney, financial advisor, or estate planning expert in preparing your will or trust. WGBH does not provide legal or tax advice.
